I am really doing well. When I started with my new company, I was dropped into the middle of a difficult project and was able to pull it together for a successful release. Subsequently, I have had significant influence in a restructuring effort as well as key in establishing the processes for that new division. I currently manage 7 people (it was up to 9 at one point, which is still significantly less than in the previous company) and three product groups. The team is manageable, the work is satisfying, and I am in a position to use my strengths at their best.
My confidence is growing by the week, especially since I have had some good support along the way. Each success I experience reinforces my decision to continue in this field. I know I can achieve much, and I just need to decide how much I want to take on.
I can't say enough about the time I spent with you getting my feet back on the ground. And many of the lessons I have been able to pass on to members of my team as they work on structuring their careers. One detail that I did learn was that, as a manager, I am only successful if my team members are successful. That works whether they choose to move on to other challenges or stay and work with me. It is satisfying to know that they have learned enough to take on the new work and have outgrown the old. That's success!
Happy with my work? Absolutely. Effective? At this point in time, I have choices to make in terms of which direction I want to move into. I would say that's effective.

I'm also thankful for your all that I've been learning from you about the importance of work/life balance.
